Jason Caffrey is a doctoral candidate in Bioengineering and medical student at the University of California, San Diego. During his graduate studies, he implemented medically oriented 3D printing into the curriculum of an undergraduate Bioengineering design course. He has also studied the mechanics of complex 3D printed structures for implantable medical devices. Currently, he is working with an orthopaedic surgeon at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego to study the clinical benefits of 3D printing for developmental diseases of the hip. Jason is interested in the bridging of engineering and medicine, facilitated by new technologies and analysis techniques.
